| Specifies the serialization method:* <code>xml</code>, <code>xhtml</code>, <code>html</code>, and <code>text</code> are taken from the official specification. * <code>json</code> and <code>jsonml</code> have been added are specific to BaseX and can be used to output XML nodes in the JSON format (see [[JSON Functions]] for more details). Added with <font color="red">Version 6.7.2</font> of * <code>plain</code> is BaseX -specific as well and allows for a raw text output (see [[JSON Functions]] for more detailsno entity encoding, no indentation, no elements output).This method is helpful whenever the result is to be further processed as plain text.
